The New York Wine & Culinary Center has announced its next installment of the Rendezvous with Riesling Event, now labeled the Riesling Release Party on Friday, May 16th at 7:00pm. Guest wineries will release their 2013 Riesling on this night, which will give participants exclusive samples of this year’s up and coming Finger Lakes’ Riesling contenders. 

The Johnston House opens for the season on May 3, 2014. Built by John and Margaret Johnston in the 1820s, the Johnston House originally sat on an important farm where John Johnston became a well-known advocate of improved farming techniques. Johnston was the first American farmer to use soil drainage tiles to increase productivity on his farm, which was considered by some in the 19th century to be “the most important agricultural spot in America.” 

To celebrate the awesome season at Bristol Mountain we are offering our new Awesome April Season Pass.  This pass offers unlimited skiing and riding from 9am-4pm, from April 1st through the last day of the season for only $89.   If the season is extended, those dates will be included on this pass.  Anyone ages 8 and older may purchase the Awesome April Pass.  As always, Children 7 and under ski for free.  This pass is available for sale by going to or by stopping by the Guest Services office between 9am-4pm. 

On January 22, 2014 the Geneva Historical Society sold Balmanno Cottage (583 South Main Street, Geneva) to Hobart and William Smith Colleges. Blanchard Bartlett Walker bequeathed her house and the vast majority of her household furnishings to the Historical Society upon her death in 1997. It was her intent to establish her late husband’s collection of 18th- and 19th-century American furniture and decorative arts as a memorial to him. These objects became the William Walker Memorial Collection. Since 1997, the collection and other household furnishings have been displayed at Balmanno Cottage, the couple’s former home. 

Bristol Valley Theater, the Finger Lakes premiere professional summer theater will celebrate their 50th Anniversary on March 15th with a benefit celebration at the theater – 151 S. Main Street, Naples. The benefit will feature a reading of the hilarious backstage farce Noises Off, a gourmet post-show reception and live auction of one-of-a-kind prizes! 

In celebration of a Heroux family tradition Simply Crêpes Café and Catering will be offering all you can eat traditional crêpe rolls during the highlight of the maple sugaring season. Starting March 21, and running until the end of the month, March 31, you can eat and unlimited quantity of Traditional Crêpe rolls, for only $8.00.
