South Bristol:  Through the stillness at the summit of Bristol Mountain the sound of guests zipping through the forest on the new Zip Line Canopy Tour can be heard. This three hour guided tour consists of seven individual zip lining courses totaling over 5,000 feet with speeds reaching over 40 mph.

The longest zip, No. 7, comes in at 1,500 feet long and ends at the Morning Star Café, a unique mid-mountain lodge known for its homemade Belgian waffles with syrup from the region.

Guests are transported from the Summit Center in a military style vehicle to ground school where they learn the ins and outs of zip lining from their two guides. The snowball and snowflake are two positions the guests learn, which enable them to zip faster or to slow down at the direction of the guides.

“The zip line canopy tour is a year round attraction.  During the winter months we will operate tours on the weekends and during holiday weeks like Christmas and President’s Week,” comments Marketing Director Drew Broderick. “We started the tours several weeks ago and it has been very well received by our guests. This is a great complement to skiing and snowboarding during the winter season. During the summer months the tours will operate every day. This is a great team building and birthday party activity. Group rates are available," states Broderick.

Bristol Mountain has a rich history with the ski area opening in 1964. At one time it was considered the largest illuminated ski area and Robert Kennedy skied here in 1967. Fast forward to 2015 and Bristol Mountain is considered the premier ski area in the Finger Lakes region, it has expanded its year-round operations to include Bristol Mountain Aerial Adventures, the new Zip Line Canopy Tour, Roseland Waterpark and Roseland Wake Park, the only cable wakeboarding park in the Northeast.

“Tourism is important to our community and for economic development.  Family vacations are becoming more adventure-oriented and our business model focuses on attractions that allow families the opportunities to enjoy the great outdoors together,” explains Steven Fuller, Project and Operations Manager for Bristol Mountain Aerial Adventures.
