Canandaigua, NY - The official Ontario County tourism promotion agency, Finger Lakes Visitors Connection, has released a new #FLXperience Travel Guide, highlighting all the fun things to do in Ontario County, and encouraging people to share their experiences on Instagram using the hashtag #FLXperience.

The four-color 4 x 9 guide is packed with information and includes two maps, drive times to Ontario County from major cities, and a variety of things to do including attractions, shopping, restaurants, hotels and lodging in Ontario County. Photography is plentiful in the guide, as is the use of the #FLXperience hashtag.

From June – September, Finger Lakes Visitors Connection launched the #FLXperience social media campaign encouraging people to share their personal Finger Lakes experiences on Twitter and Instagram. The program was a success, garnering more than 1,500 photos and entries.

“We know that 56% of our visitors are using social media to refine – and then report on their trip experience. We also know that more than half of Ontario County visitors use smart-phones and tablets for pre-trip planning or while traveling,” said Valerie Knoblauch, President of Finger Lakes Visitors Connection. “This brochure leverages this trend, that will only go up, by leveraging the hashtags, photos, and discussion areas on Instagram, Facebook, and Trip Advisor, the media where our message is most relevant.”

The Visitors Connection printed 25,000 copies of the guide, which will be distributed locally to tourism businesses and sent to potential visitors requesting information. The guide will also be used at travel trade shows and visitors centers across the northeastern United States and Canada.

To request a copy of the guide, call the Visitors Connection office at 585-394-3915. The guide can also be viewed online at www.visitfingerlakes.com/brochures.
