Geneva, N.Y.: This autumn the Geneva Historical Society will offer two tours of Glenwood Cemetery with Geneva Historical Society staff. On Sunday, October 14, the tour will focus on the Swift Post Veteran's Plot and the areas surrounding it. The Sunday, October 28 tour will cover Pulteney-in-Glenwood, the section containing burials removed from the old Pulteney Street burial ground that was on Milton Street until 1925. Both tours begin at 2 p.m.

Glenwood Cemetery is a Victorian garden cemetery. It was planned and designed in 1872 on 50 acres of land by H. W. S. Cleveland (1814-1900), a longtime friend of landscape architect Frederick Law Olmstead. Beautiful monuments and interesting people make Glenwood a fascinating place to visit.

Glenwood Cemetery is at 1000 Lochland Road. Participants should meet by the chapel near the north entrance. The tours run rain or shine and cost $5 per person. Payment can be made in advance at the Historical Society office or at the beginning of the tour. Please bring exact change or a check if you pay the afternoon of the tour. Reservations are preferred, but not required. For more information or to make a reservation, call the Geneva Historical Society at 315-789-5151.
