Who's going to take the famous green jacket home from Augusta this year?

With spring nipping at our heels, golf is in the air—and the 2018 Masters Tournament is here.

We reached out to a few local golf pros this year to see who they think will conquer Augusta. Is Tiger back? Can he get number 80? Or will someone else rise to challenge and hold on during moving day?

Our Sugary Sweet List of Maple Weekend Events

Thursday, March 15, 2018 8:00 AM by Kendall Knaak

March means maple, especially for Ontario County in the Finger Lakes! During Maple Weekend, maple farms across New York State invite visitors to their “sugar houses” to experience firsthand how pure, mouthwatering maple syrup and other related products are made. Visitors also have the opportunity to enjoy fun, family-friendly activities, taste New York's freshest syrup and purchase maple products.

March means maple, especially for the Wohlschlegel family. A maple farm located in Naples, this family has a great appreciation for the traditions of maple syrup production, and enjoys sharing that history and experience with visitors who come to see how maple syrup is produced.

Though well-known to locals, those visiting the Finger Lakes may be wondering what this slice of peculiar purple pie is, and it would be a shame to miss out on it! An essential part of every Thanksgiving dinner or celebratory family gathering, pies bring people together. Everyone has a favorite, but bring this pie to your next family event, and you'll have the most unique pie of all.

With purple fire hydrants dotting the downtown streets and vineyards defining its hills and valley, the village of Naples takes its grapes, and grape pies, very seriously. These inky purple pies are the unofficial mascot of the community, sold at roadside stands and at farm markets during harvest season and at small retail shops throughout the year. There's even a local pizzeria that has a grape pie pizza on its dessert menu.

For over 50 years and counting...the great Naples Grape Festival has transformed the quaint, peaceful village of Naples, NY into the center of the universe for one amazing weekend in September.

A Finger Lakes Fourth of July

There’s something to be said about observing traditions, and celebrating the birth of our nation is, if anything, paramount to that rule. But whether you’re looking for a change of pace or want to create new traditions entirely, the Finger Lakes has some truly spectacular ways to celebrate all things U.S.A.

Fireworks: If there’s anything critically essential to celebrating the Fourth of July it has to be a good firework show and if there’s one thing we in the Finger Lakes know, it’s how to put on a good show! In fact, three of our communities celebrate with fireworks

I realize I may get some flak for writing about Christmas before Thanksgiving (my mother, for example, would be appalled). But, at least to me, the spirit of the holiday season definitely starts to build up even before Turkey Day. Many towns have holiday lights in the park, or lights on homes, but in Canandaigua we have trees in houses.
