7 Best Dog-Walking Spots in the Finger Lakes

Game nights, happy hours and co-ed sports leagues all make for great memories and moments—with fellow human beings. But when it comes to unconditional love in the form of happy howls and giddy licks, there’s nothing better than some quality time with your little fluffle snuggins. That’s right, we’re talking about dogs (and puppies).

Time and time again, dogs prove that they’re more than just pleasant space heaters in cold weather or protectors against rascally squirrels and do-badders. They are loving, jumping, licking, barking, hunka hunka furry loves and it’s time to take them on the W-A-L-K they deserve. But these aren’t just any walks—these are the seven-best dog-friendly walks in the Finger Lakes.

It’s this time each year when some of us emerge from our homes like grizzlies from their dens. Shaking off the indoors and winter temperatures to step into longer days and welcomed sunlight. People rekindle forgotten New Year’s resolutions with passion and excitement. You see the overeager among us in shorts and T-shirts, while the crocuses are still dusted with frost. Whatever category you find yourself in, now’s the time to get outside and spring into action!  What are you waiting for?

4 Ways to Enjoy Winter While Staying Warm

The winter air is quiet. Peaceful. Trees in the Finger Lakes are blanketed in white, fields of fresh clean snow glisten in the (sometimes rare) sunlight. Who doesn't smile when reminiscing about the gift of snow days, fort building or catching that elusive snowflake on your tongue? Sure, it gets a little chilly, but nothing a warm sweater and scarf combo can’t take care of. For those who enjoy winter but also love being warm, I’ve got four ideas how you can get out and stay warm while exploring Ontario County in the Finger Lakes!

There are few places more picture-perfect than the Finger Lakes in Autumn. Clear blue lakes encompassed by rolling hills bursting with reds, yellows and oranges, and expansive fields and farmlands of green are everywhere. The days may be getting shorter, but that doesn’t mean there’s a shortage of solo adventures, romantic escapes or family fun waiting for you in your backyard. So pack the car for a weekend getaway, and a backpack with hiking snacks and sunscreen. Here are some of my favorite ways to make sure you fall in love with Ontario County this season.

Summer is in full swing. So whether you’re looking for ideas for date night or ways to entertain the kids on summer vacation, here are some of my top picks for things to do this summer.

Festivals and events!

You can bet to find something happening almost every weekend during the rest of summer, no matter when you’re visiting. But if you’re looking for some cool things to plan a trip around, here are some of my favorites.

Here’s a question: On a scale from one to glowing red campfire embers, how hot have you felt this summer? If you answered anywhere in the range of hotter-than-a-pancake-on-a-frying-pan, you’re not alone. With temperatures deciding to go the way of scorched earth, it’s not uncommon to lather up multiple sunscreen applications, stick your head in the freezer and down enough water to fill a kiddie pool each and every day. In an effort to ease up on the aloe while still enjoying the sunniest slices of summer, we’ve come up with five ways to beat the heat.
