Summer is almost here, and that means taking advantage of the Finger Lakes’ great outdoors. Even if you don’t consider yourself the camping type, you may reconsider when you realize camping today can fit almost any type of personality.

If you want to bring your tent, hike in the woods, and set up au naturel, you can do that in Ontario County. But if you’re more like me and my “city-boy husband converted to the great life in Upstate NY,” you might prefer all the new choices available where camping has turned to glamping (glamorous camping).

Who's going to take the famous green jacket home from Augusta this year?

With spring nipping at our heels, golf is in the air—and the 2018 Masters Tournament is here.

We reached out to a few local golf pros this year to see who they think will conquer Augusta. Is Tiger back? Can he get number 80? Or will someone else rise to challenge and hold on during moving day?

It’s winter in the Finger Lakes, and after a full week of work, you’ll be looking for fun things to do! The Finger Lakes has all kinds of events for friends, couples and families. Get ready to get out and experience art, music, outdoor activities and local culinary favorites. Are you ready for some winter-weekend fun?!

When Paula Jankowski from England sent us a message, wondering what there was to do in winter in the Finger Lakes, we couldn't wait to share all our favorites spots! Carol and our intern, Taylor, got right to work, putting together a list of "must see" stops. Paula and her husband enjoyed their vacation in the Finger Lakes, and then sent Carol a lovely note, describing the fun adventures they found. We couldn't pass up the opportunity to ask Paula if she would take some time to put her thoughts in a blog for us, as well as share some of her travel pictures. She agreed! Read below and enjoy our world from the perspective of someone who lives thousands of miles away.

November 17 is National Take a Hike Day! I plan on taking advantage of this fantastic day by going for a hike with my faithful companion, Shadow. No matter the weather or your preferred activity, Ontario County’s Finger Lakes offers plenty of ways to experience the great outdoors!

Fall is my jam. Not a jam that you produce using grapes and put on a piece of toast, though that sounds like tons of fun too. For some reason, fall has it all for me. Crisp, cool air (though not so much this year), changing leaves and plenty of activities to do.

One of those activities? Taking amazing Instagram photos. Sure, you shouldn’t plan a trip to the Finger Lakes surrounding a social media app, but sometimes it’s irresistible. Take it from a local, there are photo opportunities galore.

Three Places to Find Finger Lakes Foliage

Riding home on my bike yesterday, I stopped at a light and watched as a single, red leaf fell slowly to the ground in front of me. That was the moment I realized, fall is here and it’s OK. The striking red of the leaf reminded me how much I actually love fall.

This is our glory season, the time of year when our hillsides light with color and the lakes shimmer reflecting the golds, reds and greens of autumn. In beautiful Ontario County, there are so many places to get outside to soak in the fall color before winter truly arrives. Here are three great options to get you started.
