The fall is quite an amazing time in the Finger Lakes! We’ve got the leaves changing color, the amazing fall drives through the valleys of the Finger Lakes, and festivals galore! In fact, just last month was the Naples Grape Festival. You can read all about it here.
Picnic in the hills of the Finger Lakes
Personally, I am looking forward to driving out towards the Naples area and enjoying a picnic at the Overlook on County Road 12. I’ll grab a bottle of the Love Riesling at Inspire Moore Winery, a grape pie at Monica’s Pies, some grape twists at Arbor Hill, some apples and award-winning juices from Red Jacket Orchards, and no picnic would be complete without a stop to Wegmans to pick up some breads baked in-house, vegetables and cheeses.

I’ll also be at the Fall into Canandaigua Festival on October 15. It all takes place on the beautiful Main Street in Canandaigua and will be fun for everyone with wagon rides, vendors such as Sweet Expressions and Wick-edly Sent, a scarecrow contest and lots of kids’ activities.

And I know I won’t make it through the fall without at least once going to the Pick N’ Patch in Stanley to pick out some pumpkins for Halloween. Halloween is a big deal in our house, so… I am guessing we will be making more than one stop to Pick N’ Patch, and while we are there we’ll certainly check out the corn maze.

I’m also going to let you in on a little secret… it gets a bit cold during autumn in the Finger Lakes. But, that is OK. We have great alpaca clothing at Lazy Acre Alpacas to keep us warm! On October 8 and 9 from 10 am to 5 pm there will be an Alpaca Open House at Lazy Acre. You can tour the farm with 100+ alpacas, watch spinning and weaving demos, and get some great deals on alpaca goods like sweaters, hats and socks, just in time for the chilly months.
