The first workshop of the day will be led by September 2017 artist in residence Ali Herrmann. Create abstract artworks with encaustic waxes and colored inks. Explore the expressive uses of transparent and opaque pigments, build surfaces with layers of color, and create beautifully lustrous, one of a kind works of art.
The second workshop of the day will be led by July/August 2016 artist in residence Victoria Connors. Learn how to make a landscape “painting” with colored wool by combining wool of different hues to mimic the mixing of paint. The rich texture of the natural fibers will enhance your unique, stylized landscape or floral scene.
The final workshop of the day will be led by September/October 2016 artist in residence Cathryn Leyland. Use acrylic paint on paper, fabric, and translucent surfaces to build a series of repeated patterns. The outcome will be a rich variety of surfaces, which can be arranged to make one mixed-media arrangement or split into separate unique pieces of art.
