Just because you aren't in the big city doesn't mean life gets boring after dark here in the Finger Lakes. Nightlife in Ontario County has its own pulse and impulses, and if you really want to get to know the locals, there's no better way than saddling up at the bar and watching the game, comparing winery notes, or listening to live music.

Downtown Geneva is a good place to cop that urban feel without the annoying traffic jam, and it's especially fun on Geneva Night Out (first Friday of the month), when downtown businesses open their doors to special events highlighting art, culture and social gatherings.

After a day at the wineries, continue your wine tour with flights at Microclimate on Linden Street or head up to Phelps' Water Side Wine Bar.

Prefer a night out of theatre or want to see what the local colleges have going on? Check out our listings here for a night out with the arts.

Naples and its environs also has its own scene, with local bands drawing die-hard fans to the Naples Hotel, Roots Café and Middletown Tavern. Bring your dancing shoes.

Local musicians also make frequent appearances at area wineries and breweries such as Brew and Brats, Nedloh Brewing, Lake Street Station Winery, Crafty Ales & Lagers, Inspire Moore Winery and Lake Drum Brewing.

Want to shoot darts or catch the game with a basket of beer and some burgers? Eddie O'Brien's, Vonnie's Boat House Bar, Wally's Pub, and Eric's Office can oblige. Meanwhile, happy hour on the waterfront is calling you at The Sand Bar at the Inn on the Lake and The Pier House at Geneva Ramada Lakefront.

A night on the town in the Finger Lakes? It's full of good cheer.
