Farm Tours and Events
How about some fun on a farm while in the Finger Lakes? A growing number of Ontario County farmers want to share their pride and know-how through farm tours, county fairs, harvest festivals, and other special events. One key event is the annual Ontario County Fair in July which showcases farming of all stripes and get the most out of our farm heritage.
Start a family tradition at Wickham Pick'n Patch in Stanley, where the kids can get lost in a corn maze or meet farm animals up close while you select mums and pumpkins for fall decorating. Pet an alpaca and then shop a fashionable boutique of clothing made with alpaca fiber. Lazy Acres Alpacas in West Bloomfield is ranked one of the favorites for visiting families.
Looking for a farm event? We have many in the Finger Lakes. In March, maple producers across the state invite the public to learn about maple syrup during Maple Weekends. Later in the summer, lovers of fermented cabbage come together for fun and games at the Phelps Sauerkraut Festival. Fun on the Farm only happens every two years, but it's a hit for residents and visitors who want to learn about agriculture past and present. Mark your calendar for this and other events.
