Top 10 Activities for Families

There is an abundance of things to do for families here in the Finger Lakes.  These are our top ten that you don't want to miss!

#1. Fly high or Skyride.

Come on, you know you want to prove you're brave enough to do it! This exciting aerial park, open May through October, consists of seven courses with different levels of difficulty. Each course is made up of 12-15 elements with each element being suspended between platforms that are secured to the trees.

#2. Hit the trails

Turn off the electronics and hit the trails to become one with nature. Whether it's by foot or bike, there are several parks and trails to choose from so you can pick just the right challenge for your family.

#3. Get out on the water.

Kayaking or canoeing are good standbys, but why not test the waters with something more challenging? Water skiing, stand up paddle boarding, or even SCUBA diving will take you up one more step on the adventure ladder. You'll be cool, for sure!

#4. History in the outhouse.

Say what? Yeah, you read that right. And we just totally baited you, because this is only one of the many historical sites in Ontario County that will captivate you. Altogether, there are 10 museums dotting the countryside or located in our villages. Sneak a little education by the kids by creating your own history tour that meets the interests of everyone in the family.

#5. Family fun on the mountain

Your family will love this popular resort destination because it boasts  the highest vertical of any ski resort between the Rockies and the Adirondack Mountains. There's excitement waiting for beginner to expert skiers and snowboarders.

Get your "cool" on at this summer fun place on Seneca Lake. When the summer heats up, the kids (and the kids at heart) will love the Sprayground to cool off. Slather on the sunscreen and enjoy this fun in the sun.

#9. Search for hidden treasures

Yes, there is such a thing as hidden treasure, and here's your family's chance to get out and hunt for it. Take advantage of your kids' interest in technology by using GPS to search for dozens of caches in Ontario County. You won't be disappointed when your sleuthing leads you to many hidden gems of the Finger Lakes.

The Canandaigua Lady is a 19th century replica paddleboat, and the narrated tour of Canandaigua Lake leaves you feeling like the hills, and the past, are talking to you. It's a great way to relax and enjoy the lake.
