Bristol Valley Theater, Naples’ professional summer theater is inviting patrons to attend BVT Reads, a one-of-a-kind book club event, co-hosted by Writers and Books.
The play comes from the twisted imagination of Ira Levin, author of such thrillers as Rosemary's Baby and The Stepford Wives. In it, a celebrated playwright is stumped by writer's block when a neophyte writer seeking a mentor turns up with a manuscript that has blockbuster written all over it. Is it good enough to kill for?
BVT Reads participants are invited to read Rosemary's Baby before they attend Deathtrap on either July 13 or July 17. The performance will begin at 2pm on both days. Afterwards, participants will stay for a post-show discussion to dive into the mind of the author as they discuss Levin's book, play and the difference in writing techniques for each. The event will be hosted by BVT Associate Artistic Director David Shane and the play's director, Dominic Orlando, who is himself a nationally produced playwright. The panel will also include a representative from Writers and Books and members of the play’s cast.
Tickets to the show are $33 for adults, $31 for seniors, $17 for college students, and $12 for 18 and under. They can be purchased by calling the box office at 585-374-6318 or by visiting the theater’s website at www.bvtnaples.org. Season subscribers who wish to participate may switch their tickets to one of the two dates at no additional cost, or simply join in the post-show discussion at the end of the performance.
