Geneva, NY —The USDA’s Plant Genetic Resources Unit (PGRU) invites the public to experience the vibrant world of tart cherries at its annual Tart Cherry Collection Tour, taking place Saturday, July 12, 2025, at McCarthy Farm in Geneva, NY.

This free, family-friendly event offers a rare opportunity to explore one of the nation’s most diverse tart cherry collections, featuring over 100 unique varieties. From 10:00 to 11:00 AM, guests will enjoy a guided walking tour through the orchard, sample distinctive cherry cultivars, and learn about the USDA’s ongoing research in fruit genetics, crop diversity, and sustainable agriculture.

In addition to cherries, visitors will get a glimpse into the USDA’s Apple, Grape, and Vegetable collections, and enjoy cherry-themed activities designed to engage all ages.
