South Bristol, NY (September 20, 2018) On Monday, September 24th at 11am, dignitaries such as New York State Senator Rich Funke, Assembly Minority Leader Brian Kolb, New Year State Senator Pam Helming, and U.S. Ski & Snowboard Freestyle Aerial Team member Chris Lillis, will gather near Challenger Trail at Bristol Mountain for a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony to celebrate the new High Point Terrain Park and Freestyle Aerial Jump Training and Competition site at Bristol Mountain.

“Six athletes from the Bristol Mountain Freestyle Team (Jon Lillis, Morgan Schild, Chris Lillis, Dylan Walczyk, Harrison Smith and Patrick O’Flynn), aka the Bristol Mountain Super Six, will compete on the 2019 U.S. Ski & Snowboard Freestyle Team. Their success, the success of the Bristol Mountain Freestyle program and the opportunity to host U.S. Ski & Snowboard Freestyle Aerial Team athletes and international Freestyle Aerial Teams for training sessions and future competitions, which will positively impact the local economy, are the motivating factors for building a world class freestyle style aerial jump site”, exclaims, Bristol Mountain Freestyle Coach, John Kroetz.

Bristol Mountain Vice President, Steven Fuller, explains, “With the development of this new training site, the U.S. Ski & Snowboard Freestyle Aerial Team and international aerial team athletes will be able to train at Bristol Mountain prior to the start of their competition season and for several week before the Freestyle Aerial World Cup event which takes place in Lake Placid in January.”

Todd Ossian, Head Aerials Coach for the U.S. Ski & Snowboard Team, remarked, “We couldn’t be more excited about the aerial site being built at Bristol Mountain. It will not only provide us a world class training venue, but will also give us a chance at early season training when temperatures are warm during November and December in Park City.”

For the local economy this project is an opportunity increase lodging partner’s occupancy during the winter months. It also means new guests coming to the area to enjoy our shops, restaurants, wineries and breweries. Freestyle competitions are also fun spectator sports for skiers and non-skiers. Community residents are encourage to come out and watch training sessions and competitions this winter.

The High Point Terrain Park will be located at the top of Challenger Trail with a variety of features such as boxes, rails, and small jumps for patrons who have intermediate and higher terrain park skills. “Many of our guests including our after school snowsports club members love the fun terrain park features at Bristol Mountain. The Shooting Star Terrain Park will be reestablished as a progression park for guests who are new to the terrain park scene or need to practice on smaller features before advancing to the new High Point Terrain Park”, remarked, Marketing Director, Drew Broderick.
