GENEVA NY --- The Smith Opera House will be alive with the work of composer/lyricist Stephen Sondheim and the late Swedish film director Ingmar Bergman on Sunday, Dec. 30 as Opera Ithaca performs Sondheim’s “A Little Night Music” at 8 p.m. and The Smith screens Bergman’s “Smiles of a Summer Night,” the film that inspired the musical, at 2 p.m.

This is the second year that Opera Ithaca has brought a New Year’s Eve weekend performance to The Smith. Opera Ithaca’s intimate concert version of “A Little Night Music” will be sung in English and will include piano accompaniment. The show is directed by Norm Johnson and conducted by Richard Montgomery. The performance starts at 8 p.m. General admission tickets are $27.50 plus service fees.
