CANANDAIGUA, New York - On Saturday and Sunday, August 20 and 21, 2011, the Eleventh Annual Arts at the Gardens Fine Art and Fine Craft Show and Sale will take place on the south lawn of Sonnenberg Gardens and Mansion State Historic Park located at 151 Charlotte Street in Canandaigua, NY. One hundred artists representing 11 states and Canada will display and sell their work which includes painting, woodworking, clay, jewelry, fiber, photography, glass, sculpture, and more. Arts at the Gardens will be open each day from 10:00 AM until 5:00 PM, rain or shine. Included in the $6.00 special event entrance fee is admission to the gardens and mansion, including the Fashions & Flowers exhibit of vintage clothing and accessories. Parking for the event is free.
Wine by the glass from Canandaigua Wine Trail wineries will be available for purchase along with microbrews by Custom BrewCrafters, Rohrbach Brewing Company, and Naked Dove Brewing Company. Enjoy live musical entertainment under the tent featuring That There Dirt (Acoustic Jazzgrass String Duo) from 12:00 - 1:30 and Abe's Lily (New Traditional Music) from 2:00 - 4:00 on Saturday. On Sunday, don't miss Brian Burley and Harvey Possemato (Acoustic Guitar Duo) from 12:00 - 1:30, and Abe's Lily returns from 2:00 - 4:00. Wegmans Canandaigua Catering will present an array of tasty foods, while the Canandaigua Kiwanis and Rotary Clubs will offer grilled fare.
Come meet this year’s finalists for the $1,000 Ronald L. Bittner Budding Artist Scholarship in the Budding Artists’ Tent: Alison Cowles, a sophomore Communications Design major enrolled at PrattMWP; Anna Overmeyer, a sophomore Illustration major enrolled at Rochester Institute of Technology; and Paige Turnbull, a senior Studio Art Major enrolled at Nazareth College of Rochester. The scholarship winner will be selected on Saturday by a team of acclaimed art judges.
Chances will be on sale at the raffle tent to win an original work of art donated by an exhibiting artist. Drawing for prizes will be on Sunday afternoon. You do not need to be present to win.
Hands-on activities for kids will be provided by the Unique Toy Shop of Canandaigua. Admission to Arts at the Gardens is free for children under 12.
Sonnenberg is located 8 miles south of NYS Thruway Exit 44 in the City of Canandaigua.
