Located at the head of Canandaigua Lake, the Canandaigua Lakefront Resort District is a vibrant, hip, and happening strip that attracts everyone from families to young couples to empty nesters and welcomes furry, four-legged members of the family in most places as well. The Resort District is picturesque, romantic, adventurous and relaxing all at once.
Drive or better yet, park your car and stroll or bike along Lakeshore Drive to truly take in the Lakefront Resort District. Kershaw Park features a beach area, bathhouse, children’s playground, small craft launch areas, public dock, picnic pavilions and a gazebo, along with fabulous views of Canandaigua Lake. Kayaks, sailboards and paddleboards can all be rented from private companies located in the Resort District. In addition to the Kershaw Park launches, the Canandaigua State Marine Boat Launch serves larger boats and Seager Marine and Sutter’s Canandaigua Marina offer service, rentals and dockage making it so easy to enjoy the boating lifestyle on Canandaigua Lake. In addition, Seager Marine hosts Freedom Boat Club members who want to enjoy a day on the water while they take care of the rest. For those that want to get out on the water but leave the navigating to someone else, take a cruise on the Canandaigua Lady, a replica of a 19th century paddlewheel boat, conveniently docked at the Hotel Canandaigua during the summer.
When you work up a thirst and appetite, stop along the way at the Twisted Rail or Young Lion Brewing Companies for locally made, awarding winning beers. Further up the road is the Sandbar for casual, upscaled bar food and drinks, a great place to watch the boats come in and the sun set on Canandaigua Lake.
Just off of Lakeshore Drive is Boathouse Row on the Canandaigua City Pier. The Pier has a distinct seaside ambiance with 80 small, gaily painted boathouses clustered along the pier just waiting for a photo op or painter’s canvas.
A quintessential Finger Lakes vacation includes staying in a room with a view and the Canandaigua Lakefront Resort District has some of the best views that you will find in the Finger Lakes. The new Lake House on Canandaigua and Hotel Canandaigua, both with boat docking, are lakeside resorts that are sure to fulfill your every Finger Lakes dream.
The Resort District has been a favorite destination for visitors since 1925 when Roseland Park opened, an amusement park featuring a beautiful carousel plus a Ferris Wheel, Skyliner rollercoaster and Flying Bobs for thrill-seekers. Anyone growing up in western New York through the 1970s will remember a trip to Roseland as the highlight of their summer. Today, just a “country block” away visitors enjoy Roseland Wake Park the only Cable Wake Park in the Northeast and Roseland Waterpark with its wave pool, splash factory and mammoth raft ride provide water adventures for the whole family.
