Seventeen and one-half acres of the original 55 owned by Hiram Edson are part of this historic farm. Although Edson's original barn no longer stands, a barn belonging to Hiram's father, Luther Edson, has been moved here and restored. This site is sometimes referred to as "the theological birthplace of the Seventh-day Adventist church." "It is here that the doctrines of the Sabbath and the Sanctuary came together in the 1840s, along with other important pillars of the SDA Church: Salvation, Second Coming, State of the Dead, and the Spirit of Prophecy. At the welcome center you can view a short documentary on the life of Hiram Edson and see artifacts from his time period. Displayed is a 1854 Washington Hand Press like the original hand press on which the early Advent believers published the Advent Review and Sabbath Herald in nearby Rochester, New York.
