CANANDAIGUA, NY --- The Finger Lakes Visitors Connection looks forward to Jake Banas joining its staff on June 16. Banas will take on the position of marketing assistant and oversee visitor services for the Ontario County tourism promotion agency.
Banas graduated in May from Keuka College with a degree in English and organizational communications. During his time at Keuka College, he completed a public relations internship at Albany Medical Center and a community services internship at Finger Lakes Health. He also volunteered at the Penn Yan Volunteer Ambulance Corp and Branchport Keuka Park Volunteer Fire Department.
“Basically, I hope to take others who were not very well informed about the region, like I used to be, and help to demonstrate what a remarkable place the area is,” says the native of Delmar, NY, near Albany.
In his new role, Banas will help shape a welcoming and informative guest and visitor experience in person, on the phone and online, assist in data collection, record keeping and market research and provide sales assistance.
“Having him here will demonstrate our commitment to the total visitor experience, from the time visitors request information to the time they leave the area,” says FLVC president Valerie Knoblauch.
