CANANDAIGUA, NY – It’s time to take Finger Lakes cuisine and farm-to-table dining in New York’s Finger Lakes to the next level. It is time for the Finger Lakes Food Revolution! The Finger Lakes Food Revolution unites and recognizes the producers, promoters and lovers of locally-produced foods, wines, and dishes from the Finger Lakes Region.

The Food Revolution has three phases, culminating in the Finger Lakes Foodie Awards.

Phase 1 – Fall is for Foodies
To join the Revolution, locavore food lovers are enlisted to attend regional food events and restaurants during the months of September and October and nominate the local foods and beverages that they feel best represent Finger Lakes cuisine. Nominations will fall into specific categories like Best Locally-Sourced Entrée, Best Estate Red Wine, Best Local Cheese – to name a few. Foodies can also nominate their favorite food producer, event or restaurant online.

Voting kicks off Sept. 10 at the Rochester Foodlink Festival of Food.

Other nominating events include:
Finger Lakes Cork & Fork, Seneca Falls – Sept. 14 and 15
Purple Foot Festival, Fairport – Sept. 16
Naples Grape Festival, Naples – Sept. 29 and 30
Finger Lakes Cheese Trail Open House – Oct. 6 and 7
Debra Whiting’s Harvest Celebration, Watkins Glen – Oct. 11

Phase 2 – The Judging Round
In early winter, the top nominees in each category will be judged by a panel of local and national culinary experts and critics, as well as amateur foodies to determine the winners. If you would like to be selected for one of the four amateur foodie slots, you can enter for a chance.

Phase 3 – Finger Lakes Foodie Awards
In late winter, Finger Lakes Visitors Connection will host an Oscar-style awards show to recognize the winners in each category.

“With the abundance of fresh products and incredible talent in this region, Finger Lakes cuisine deserves to be on the world stage,” said Valerie Knoblauch, President of Finger Lakes Visitors Connection. “The Finger Lakes Food Revolution will give the region a strong and powerful voice in the culinary world.”
