CANANDAIGUA --- Finger Lakes Visitors Connection won recognition at the Public Relations Society of America, Rochester Chapter, annual PRism Awards ceremony held on Thursday, June 16 at the Rochester Museum and Science Center. FLVC’s “#FLX Dream it… Live it! Conference for the Midwest Travel Writers Association” won in the Media Relations/Not-for-profit category, receiving a perfect score from judges.
The five-day conference took place in May 2015, and involved 61 travel writers, photographers and travel industry professionals from the Midwest Travel Writers Association who chose to hold their semi-annual conference in the Finger Lakes. These members have affiliations with USA Today, Washington Post, Chicago Tribune, Midwest Living Magazine and many other national media. More than 200 Ontario County businesses were involved with the itinerary for the conference.
Thanks to hundreds of hours of detailed planning, well-crafted industry partnerships and sponsorships, the FLVC team inspired their guests with a comprehensive, action-packed program designed to lead them to unique story angles that would entice readers to visit the Finger Lakes. More than three dozen articles and blogs have been published about Ontario County as a travel destination, and others are in the works more than a year after the event.  
“The return on investment has been ten-fold,” said FLVC President Valerie Knoblauch. “The media wins keep rolling in. And we have been told by MTWA members again and again that this was the best conference they have ever attended.”
PRism Award winners are selected from a pool of applicants and only those considered at the forefront of excellence in the field of Public Relations are recognized for their efforts. Categories that are focused on include planning/content, creativity/quality, technical excellence, and the results of the campaign with the greatest emphasis on the overall execution of the event.
