My husband is crazy for cars – you know the type. I’m usually just “along for the ride” but I’m really looking forward to some of the car shows coming up this summer. Of course we went to the Sports Car and Vintage Auto Festival in Farmington – we go every year on the first weekend in June. My husband was in heaven – hundreds of cars! Plus he found an antique vise for his workshop at one of the vendor booths.
It’s a winner for both of us when we go to the Father’s Day Car Show at Sonnenberg Gardens & Mansion State Historic Park. Entry to the show is included in the regular garden admission on Father’s Day. I stroll through the aisles of vintage cars with him, and then he strolls through the gorgeous gardens at Sonnenberg with me!
We always have a great time at the Cruisin’ Night & Block Party in downtown Geneva in early July. They close the street and it’s one big party with lots of vintage cars and trucks, great food and live music – even wine tasting. What a great place to be on a summer night!
Just in case we have to wait too long between car shows, there’s always Cruise Night at the Canandaigua Wegmans. Every Thursday night, car buffs bring their beauties to a special section of the Wegmans parking lot. Admirers stop by to take a look and chat, grab a drink or a snack – it’s all very casual and laid back. And, hey, pick up some milk before you head home.
