4 Rooftop Bars You Won’t Want to Miss!

Tuesday, June 9, 2020 1:00 PM by Kendall Knaak

There’s just something about a rooftop bar that makes the drinks taste better, the conversations livelier and the experience elevated (quite literally!). With the gorgeous panoramic views of the Finger Lakes region, we love seeing our number of rooftop bars continue to rise.

Please remember that social distancing guidelines are still in place. Keep yourselves and our community safe by following all rules and regulations!

Does this sound familiar?

You’ve turned on Netflix to discover you have no idea what to watch. Your last bottle of whatever-brand-you-could-find Sauvignon Blanc has just been emptied. You want to keep social distancing, but where do you go from here?

For all of us, Mother’s Day is going to look a bit different this year. You may have been spending extra time with your mom than normal or unable to see her due to distance or because one (or both!) of you are essential workers. No matter how your Mother’s Day might look this year, here are 7 ways to show your mom, or the maternal figure in your life, just how much they mean to you! Many will even offer shipping right to her front door.

Perhaps you have come to the Finger Lakes to explore our world-famous Rieslings and our award-winning farm-to-table fare. That’s all well and good, but let’s face it, sometimes a cold beer and a hefty burger are exactly what the vacation doctor calls for, with a big side of local culture. From re-purposed shotgun shells turned into lighting fixtures to free legal advice from town supervisors, here are some of the best off-the-beaten-path watering holes, dive bars and neighbor joints in the Finger Lakes where you can easily feel like a regular.

Sometimes you go to a bar or restaurant for a drink and try something new and wonder, where did that come from? That happened to me recently when I was at Lake Drum Brewing in Geneva, trying a flight of hard ciders from the region. One in particular stood out. It was a pleasantly spicy and alluring ginger cider, sweet but not cloying, and it tasted great with the popcorn I was eating. I could imagine it tasting even better with some Chinese food. I was thrilled when I discovered that the producer, Star Cider, is just a few miles away in Clifton Springs.

For over 50 years and counting...the great Naples Grape Festival has transformed the quaint, peaceful village of Naples, NY into the center of the universe for one amazing weekend in September.

The Heron Hill Tasting Room at Bristol is offering a unique opportunity this summer to walk through a Finger Lakes vineyard and learn about the grape-growing cycle. Every Sunday through August 14, you can join Finger Lakes Community College viticulture student Andrew Mavromatis in the Ingle family vineyards overlooking Canandaigua Lake and the Bristol Hills.
