January is National Ice Skating Month, so there is no better time to get families to try ice skating for the first time and for old pros to dust off those skates and brush up on their triple axels!

Ontario County has both indoor and outdoor skating options.  Lace up your skates and get out on the ice - no excuses!

Weekdays 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

Friday & Saturday nights 6:30-9:30 p.m.

Saturday and Sunday afternoons 12:30-2:30 p.m.

*  Please note:  Evening public skating hours may vary based on Hobart William Smith home games.  Always call ahead!

The Geneva Recreation Complex also offers skate sharpening, skate rentals, a snack shop and a pro shop on site.

Greater Canandaigua Civic Center

Public Skating Hours*

Tuesday, Thursday, Friday 12 noon-1:20 p.m.

Friday & Saturday evenings 8-9:20 p.m.

Saturday and Sunday afternoons 2-3:20 p.m.

The Civic Center also offers learn to skate programs and hosts birthday parties and other group outings as well as recreational youth and adult hockey.

Outdoor Rinks

Budd Park - Shortsville

Come by anytime, this rink is open 24/7...weather permitting.  You don't need to worry about skates as they are available rent free. New this year are waterproof LED lights that change color and will follow the beat to any music that is played.  If you'd rather watch from the sidelines, there is a firepit with an endless supply of seasoned firewood and on weekends you can grab a hot chocolate and make yourself a smore. 

 

Dick’s House of Sport

This new open-air outdoor ice rink offers skate, stick and puck sessions, men’s JV hockey leagues, and other winter activities are being planned.  Adults 12 and older can skate for $10 and children under 12 can skate for $8.  Skate rentals are available for an additional $6.  Ice skate sharpening service is also offered.

Rink at The Lake

The Rink at The Lake is a new fun, family-friendly attraction located at the Lake House on Canandaigua from December - February.  Overlooking beautiful Canandaigua Lake and featuring “Magic Ice” the rink can be skated on with or without cold weather.  Tickets are $5 for kids and $10 for Adults (age 12 and up) for 30-minute time slots and include skate rentals.  Advance reservations are recommended.

Saturday & Sunday 12 noon to 8 p.m.

Other outdoor options

From time to time the shallow ends of our lakes freeze for ice skating and ice fishing and various town and village parks offer pond skating as well.  Always check with the local authorities and make sure conditions are safe before venturing out!
